A little about Maria
My name is Maria Sharp, and I was born and raised in Langley BC. I am an IFBB Pro Figure competitor and pretty much live this life 24/7.
From a young age, I have been an athlete, and was driven to always strive for perfection in every sport I was in. I was a figure skater, basketball player, swimmer, but most of all a competitive runner. Before I got into bodybuilding, after I had my two children, I was a cardio queen aerobics instructor who had no idea how to eat properly. At the age of 30 my whole life would change for the next 15 years, as I built a physique that would take me to 7 wins at the National level and on to my IFBB pro card. This was my ultimate goal and I am so blessed to be living my dream every day!
“At the age of 30 my whole life would change for the next 15 years, as I built a physique that would take me to 7 wins at the National level and on to my IFBB pro card. ”
Currently I lead a large direct selling team for the past 15 years. I am actively involved in the Canadian Physique Alliance, and teach posing classes as well as run posing seminars. Giving back to athletes is so rewarding for me and I enjoy volunteering my time at most of the local shows.
What are the qualities in you that you considered yourself to be an ALFA?
I AM ALFA due to my Type A personality. I believe I lead my life with integrity and respect. I strive for perfection in everything I do and hope that I come across as a good role model as well as inspire all woman coming into my sport.
What does it mean to you to train your clients?
My Clients are so important to me. I want then to feel confident and ready for the stage always. It gives me great joy seeing up there, and it’s so inspiring to me as well.
What is the most rewarding thing in your coaching?
Seeing my clients successful! Reaching their goals, and feeling confident. So many times I see girls so closed off and shy. Once they are coached by me sometimes they are completely different person and that just excites me.
What is the most alfa moment in your life.
Definitely winning my IFBB Pro card. I worked 10 years 24/7 for that card and won the Canadian Nationals 7 times before they gave it to me. That is something nobody has ever done.
